Since this project started, the numbers of argali sheep and ibex have more than doubled in Ikh Nart Nature Reserve, where the research happens. The U.N. Development Programme is now using Ikh Nart Nature Reserve as a model for creating new protected areas.

Dogs may have also been man’s best friend in ancient Thailand. Earthwatch teams there discovered three well-preserved dog burials, which suggests that these familiar creatures were important animals in the community.
